New CocoRosie, Antony Hegarty organizes queerfeminist-themed festival, Joey Arias sings Billie Holiday, Trans guy speaks on male privilege, Sylvia plath-interview and poem, SCUM, Immigrants in Sweden more highly educated than Swedes etc.

Antony Hegarty is organizing the Meltdown-festival August 1-12 in London this year - and the line-up - WOW, pure queerfeminist heaven. Even though I can't go I'm so happy this is happening - DIAMANDA GALAS, Laurie Anderson, Marina Abramovic, Joey Arias, Buffy Saint-Marie and CocoRosie - who have released two magnificent new songs (one of which features Antony) this week:

"I used to have eyes the color of sky, now I can see in the middle of the night"

"Do you have love for Human Kind?"

Article that shows that immigrants to Sweden are more highly educated than Swedes - and that immigrants seldom are given jobs that are at the same level as their education.

Article about how extremely fucked up Sweden's asylum politics are, this time a lesbian couple that writes about having been sent back to Iraq after 6 years in Sweden.

Article about the death threats from anti-feminists against the actress in the SCUM-theatre production!

The Arrival of the Bee Box is one of Sylvia Plath's best poems. It's all about Power.

"The box is locked, it is dangerous.

I have to live with it overnight
And I can't keep away from it.
There are no windows, so I can't see what is in there.
There is only a little grid, no exit."

"I lay my ear to furious Latin.
I am not a Caesar.
I have simply ordered a box of maniacs.
They can be sent back.
They can die, I need feed them nothing, I am the owner."

"Tomorrow I will be sweet God, I will set them free.

The box is only temporary."

One of the only surviving long interviews with Sylvia:

Joey Arias sings Billie Holiday magnificently:
